Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thenarsu will present the state budget for 2025-26 on Friday amidst the war words of the ruling DMK along with the BJP-Chasit Center. This will be the fifth budget of the current DMK government under the leadership of Chief Minister MK Stalin since coming to power in 2021.
The budget speech will begin at 9.30 am at the assembly hall of the assembly-cum-cum-secretion complex at Fort St. George Campus in Chennai.
This will be the second budget of Thenarsu after making the Finance Minister in a cabinet reshuffle in May 2023. Thenarasu presented his first budget in February last year.
Later in the day, the Tamil Nadu Assembly’s Business Advisory Committee will complete and decide about the period of the budget session starting from March 17. On March 15, State Agriculture Minister MRK Panneerselvam will present the agricultural budget.
The state government will also present the advance demands for grant for 2025-26 and the final supplementary demands for grant for 2024-25 in the Assembly on March 21.
In the Union Budget for 2025-26, the alleged reduction of funds for major projects for Tamil Nadu may come to discuss the assembly. The National Education Policy (NEP) is expected to resonate during the budget session in the Tamil Nadu Assembly for Rising India (PM Sri) for the sentiments of political parties such as Samagra Shikha and PM schools.

$ 1 trillion economy by 2030: Economic Survey
The state’s first Economic Survey 2024-25 has placed an ambitious economic roadmap for Tamil Nadu.
