JLR first announced prices for Defender Octa for India in 2024, while the official launch will take place this year.
JLR has confirmed that the new defender Octa will make its way in the Indian market on March 26, 2025. The new defender octa is the top-line version of the British luxury off-roader and will be the most powerful and off-road capable version with a host of mechanical and feature upgrade. JLR first announced prices for defender Octa for India last year, 2.65 crore (East-Shoreroom). Expect prices to witness a marginal increase for the new model year.
Defender octa upgrade
The new defender octa gets a host of upgrade in its mechanical to make it more off-road-red. It provides a new 6D dynamics suspension setup that allows maximum wheel articulation on the Harshar area. Land Rover says that the new system removes the requirement of a physical anti-roll bar by hydraulically adding dampors. It also eliminates pitch and body rolls while driving on the road.

Other changes include prolonged and hard wisbones, more broad underbody protection, a high ground withdrawal from 28 mm and 100 mm more water wading depth. The octa gets an off-road launch mode and the fastest steering rack on the defender. The upgrade has changed the approach angle on the defender octa by 2.5 degrees, the rampover angle 1.1 degrees and the departure angle 2 degrees.

Powering the new defender octa is a 4.4-liter BMW-SO8 engine with light-hybrid technology. The motor produces 626 bhp and 750 nm peak torque, which can be increased to 800 Nm in off-road launch mode. The engine is combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. The defender octa is quick, with a top speed of 0–100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph.

Visually, the new defender octa has subtle differences, including flared wheel arches, a more open front grille and a large 22-inch alloy wheels. The ‘octa’ badge on the c-pillar and a gloss-black finish on the roof and tailgate. It also comes in special color options: Carpethian Gray, Charint Gray, Faro Green and Petra Copper. JLR will also introduce a protective film either with matte finish.

Defender octa interior change
The cabin gets new performance seats with 3D-wearing texture, better bolting and an integrated headrest. The seats are upholstered in the burnt Siana semi-analin leather. Other features include an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fridge embedded in the Center Console and the new Sol seat audio technology.
