The grant actor Deb Mukherjee, Ayan Mukherjee’s father, died at the age of 83. The funeral will take place in Mumbai on Friday evening.
Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee died on Friday at 83. His spokesperson confirmed Zoom that he died on Friday morning due to age -related diseases. Deb was the father of filmmaker Ayan Mukherjee and father-in-law of Ashutosh Gowariker.
Deb Mukherjee’s funeral
Deb Mukherjee’s funeral will be held at Pawan Hans crematorium of Juhu at 4 pm on March 14, at 4 pm. According to sources, the funeral is expected to attend the funeral by several members of his extended family, including Kajol and Ajay Devgan, Rani Mukherjee, Tanuja, Tanisha and Aditya Chopra. Ayan Mukerji’s friends including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan, Siddharth Malhotra, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are also expected to attend the funeral.
Deb Mukherjee’s life and career
Born in 1941 in Kanpur, Deb Mukherjee was from a brilliant and successful film family. His mother, Satiidevi, Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar and Kishore Kumar were the only sister. His brothers included successful actor Joy Mukherjee and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee, who married Bollywood star Tanuja. His nieces are Kajol and Rani Mukherjee. Deb Mukherjee was married twice. His daughter Sunita is married to director Ashutosh Gowariker from her first marriage. Ayan is his son from his second marriage.
The actor started his career with modest roles in the 60s, which was seen in films like Tu Hi Meri Zindagi and Abhinat. While he continued to act and seen in big films like Do Akhane and Baton Baton Meen, Deb struggled to follow the success of his brother Joy. Later in his career, he won Joi, Wahi Vohi Alexander and King Chacha went into helpful roles. His final screen appearance was a cameo in the Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kamini in 2009.
