According to enorming founder and CEO Sriram Sonwen, it is important to prepare your skin before the ceremony, to reduce the damage caused by the harsh elements of Holi. “To create a protective barrier, it is necessary for moisturizes and oil,” they say.

“Apply a thick layer of coconut oil, almond oil, or a rich moisturizer to penetrate the colors deeply into your skin.”

Sunscreen Pre-Holi is another non-pervantic part of the skincare. Sonwane advised, “Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays, as most Holi functions are out.”

Piyush Jain, founder and CEO of Skin Insporded, also emphasized the importance of a good skincare routine before the festival.

Hydration plays an important role throughout the day. “Keep drinking water regularly to stay hydrated and prevent dryness due to sunlight and colors,” Sonwen continues.

For hair protection, both skincare specialists recommend applying oil on your skull and hair. Jain says, “Oil acts as a barrier, prevents colors from sticking to your hair and scalp.” “Tie your hair in a bun or braid, and consider covering it with a scarf or cap to save it even more.”

After the fun of Holi, it is time to treat your skin with extra care. Sonwane suggests to start with an oil cleaning method. “Use coconut or baby oil to break the colors before washing your face and loosen the colors,” they say. After that, choose a light cleanser and lukewarm water option to gently remove any residue without disturbing the skin.

Jain shares a similar post-Holi routine, which focuses on gentle cleaning and nutrition. “Avoid using rigid cleanser that takes away the skin of your essential oils,” he warns. “Instead, choose a cram cleanser option with lactic acid for gentle exfoliation, to increase your natural brightness, vitamin C, and salicylic acid to control the sebum and prevent brakeouts.”

To lock in hydration and protect your skin obstruction, Jain recommends using a barrier-reforming moisturizer after cleaning. “This will calm your skin and prevent dryness and irritation in the later days of the festival,” they explain.
