New Delhi. The partnership of Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motors has been quite successful so far, in which both the companies together launched a 400cc motorcycle for the first time. Now the duo is planning to launch another new, affordable bike, which will expand their product lineup. Both the companies are going to introduce a new 400cc bike based on the Speed 400 in the Indian market on 17 September 2024. Let’s know about it in detail.
Bajaj-Triumph is preparing to launch two new motorcycles based on the 400 platform, which will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto in India. Triumph recently announced this upcoming bike for the first time, which will be another advanced classic motorcycle. The fuel tank of this new bike looks similar to the Speed 400, making it likely that it has been designed with the same design language.
Like the Speed 400, this new bike is expected to be available in Carnival Red and Phantom Black colours, which give it an attractive look. However, looking at its fuel tank, it does not seem that it will be the Thruxton 400, which was recently spotted during testing in foreign markets.
This new bike will be launched or unveiled in India on 17 September 2024. Although its identity is not completely clear at the moment, it is unlikely to be the Thruxton 400. Not much information has been revealed about it from the teaser, due to which this bike still remains a mystery.
Royal Enfield currently dominates the 300cc to 500cc single-cylinder motorcycle segment, and Triumph may offer a cheaper option in this segment. It is being said that this new bike can be a more affordable variant of the Bajaj-Triumph Speed 400 to compete with Royal Enfield, whose prices can be reduced by up to Rs 10,000. This possibility has increased in view of the launch of Royal Enfield Guerilla 450.
The teaser shows bar-end mirrors on the bike, and the new bike might miss out on a few features when compared to the Speed 400. It could also be a sportier accessorised variant of the Speed 400.
The new Triumph 400cc bike will be built on the same platform as the Speed 400, with most of the features and equipment being the same. It will have a 398cc single-cylinder DOHC 4V liquid-cooled engine, which generates 39.5bhp of power and 37.5Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox, which will provide it with great performance.
