The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Tuesday announced that like foreign institutions, Indian universities will also be allowed to hold admissions twice a year.
UGC chief Jagadeesh Kumar said, “Indian universities will be allowed to hold admissions twice a year on the lines of foreign institutions.”
He said, “Biannual admissions will be given in universities in July-August and January-February from the 2024-25 session.” The UGC chief further said that industries can do campus recruitment twice a year, which will increase employment opportunities.
These half-yearly admissions in universities are being done to bring India’s higher education system at par with global educational standards, UGC chief Jagadeesh Kumar told news agency PTI.
