Patralekha looks back
In an interview with Mashablea India, Patralekhaa looks back at her experience and how she handled rejection.
Patralekhaa said, “Before Citylights, I was auditioning for Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. Luv sir was taking auditions, and his auditions are always very elaborate. Nusrat, Kartik, Omkar, Sunny and many other girls were there. These three-four people had been finalized and they needed two more new faces. I auditioned and thought I would get this role. Then later, I was in the gym and Luv Ranjan called me. The phone tab comes when you get a call (when you get the role you get a call). He asked me to come and I was feeling very excited. I took a bath and wore my best clothes to go to his office”.
Patralekha was initially troubled by the rejection.
He further added, “He made me sit and there was no one there, just me and him. I thought in my mind that he would share the good news and people would come with flowers, chocolates and cakes. He said, ‘Yaar, ye jaane de (let it go)’. At that moment, I felt very bad and thought, ‘How could he call me and say no in front of me, this is not good.’ I came out and was very upset. I went back home and later I realized that he respected me so much as an artiste and actor. He calls me to his office and says, ‘Beta nahi hopaya, lekin hum aage jaake kaam karenge na (Son, this time it didn’t work out, but we will work together in the future)’. It’s a lot, and I think that’s why I got Wild Wild Punjab.”
Pyaar ka Punchnama was released in 2011, and worked well at the box office. Pyaar Ka Punchnama featured Kartik Aaryan, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Sunny Singh, Divyenndu, Omkar Kapoor, Ishita Raj Sharma, and Sonnalli Seygall.
