New Delhi. If you are troubled by fake calls, then there is a relief news for you. Actually, Telecom Regulatory and Development Authority (TRAI) on Tuesday directed telecom companies to disconnect all telecom resources of unregistered telemarketing companies making spam calls and put them in blacklist for 2 years.
Along with this, TRAI has also asked the telecom companies to immediately comply with this instruction and provide regular updates on a fortnightly basis about the action taken in this regard.
Customers are expected to get relief
TRAI issued instructions to telecom companies saying that this action is expected to reduce spam calls made to consumers by unregistered telemarketing companies and provide relief to customers.
TRAI said in a statement, “Telecom service providers have been directed to disconnect all telecom resources of unregistered telemarketing companies making spam calls and blacklist such callers under Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulations, 2018.”
TARI gave strict instructions
In this direction, TRAI has made it mandatory for all telecom service providers to stop promotional calls from all unregistered telemarketers (UTMs) using bulk connections and other telecom resources, whether these messages are pre-recorded or computer-generated. TRAI said, “All promotional voice calls from unregistered telemarketers using telecom means (SIP/ PRI/ other telecom resources) will be stopped immediately.”
