Pranayama can significantly improve mental clarity, reduce stress and increase focus. A short pause is all it takes to transform your day. Allow yourself to let go of what has happened with three deep breaths – ‘inhale’ hold for 3 seconds then ‘exhale’ do this 3 times. Pranayama is one of my favorite ways to bring yourself into the present moment. This practice helps us disconnect from the constant flow of thoughts and allows us to center ourselves.
He further recommended, “Quick breathing exercises, such as Nadi Shodhana (alternate nose-to-nose breathing), can be highly effective for students during stressful times such as exams or assignments. This technique helps balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain, improving concentration and bringing a sense of calm. It’s a simple yet powerful way to clear the mind and reset your energy. In addition to pranayama, incorporating gentle yoga postures such as child’s pose or forward bend can help release physical tension accumulated in the body, especially in the neck and shoulders, which typically result from prolonged sitting.
