The Lord of the Rings actor Ian McKellen, who played Gandalf in the films, got injured during a play. The actor also has a great love for theatre. Recently, while he was participating in a play, the actor fell off the stage during a fight and got injured. The veteran actor was immediately helped by people around him and admitted to the hospital. However, the actor is recovering from his injuries and is resting.
The actor, who has worked as an actor for six decades on screen and stage, was playing the role of John Falstaff in the play based on Shakespeare’s writings, titled Player Kings. According to AP’s report, the 85-year-old actor lost his balance while performing his character during a battle scene. Spectator Paul Critchley said, “When Sir Ian moved down to take a more active role in the scene he tripped.” He fell right in front of the audience and the entire theater was shocked.
Luckily, there were two doctors in the audience who immediately helped the actor and staff members. The actor was immediately hospitalized in case of any serious injuries or shock. The theater was evacuated after the incident and Tuesday’s show was also canceled in view of Ian’s injuries.
According to AP, a spokesperson said that Ian is recovering and has been admitted to the hospital after falling off the stage during a play in London. After a thorough examination, the doctor has assured Ian of a “speedy recovery” and that he will soon be in a “good mood”. A staff member of the British theater publication The Stage posted a statement on social media in which the producer expressed gratitude to the audience of the play for wishing the actor well.
