Filmmaker-choreographer Remo D’Souza talks about life after his heart attack in 2020.
Remo D’Souza’s entire life turned upside down in 2020, when he was diagnosed with 100 percent heart blockage. The heart attack was a big blow for him as he says he was always very cautious about his health.
Today on the occasion of World Heart Day, he told us, “We still don’t understand why this happened to me. I exercise and take care of my body, I have always done that before. But I am more careful now. I never smoked, partied hard, or drank alcohol. “It can happen to anyone, at any time.”

On how his life has been after this incident, the filmmaker-choreographer shares, “Initially, it was a little difficult for me. Everyone’s diet today includes a lot of packaged and canned foods, which need to be avoided. Go natural, and then there is nothing to worry about, and that is what I have incorporated in my life. As far as rising cases are concerned today, everything happens for a reason and the way we are living today is exactly the same. Ever since the day this happened to me, I have been tracking my eating habits.
One’s family is also mentally affected, and D’Souza agrees. “Yes, it affected me too. I have to reassure them from time to time that everything is okay. My wife Liesel keeps checking on my well-being. In such times, your family is your support system. Liesel took full care of me and my children supported me completely. Stress is a major cause of heart attack. By having a supportive family around, you get over it. My advice to anyone reading this is to always be aware, your body gives you signals when something is not right.”
As far as his work is concerned, it remains intact without any cuts, “The work goes on. I still do everything the same way, nothing has changed on that front.”
