World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2024: Workplace should be safe, healthy and ideal for work. An ideal workplace always focuses on the importance of increasing the quality of work. However, we must be conscious of the culture we are creating in our workplace. An employee spends a large part of their day at their workplace and hence, it is important to create a healthy workplace where they feel happy to work, and more importantly, they themselves are safe. A toxic workplace can impair an employee’s mental, physical and emotional health. Due to this the quality of work deteriorates further. We must be extremely mindful of the work culture we are creating and ensure a healthy place for people to work. This makes employees happy and the quality of work also increases rapidly. World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated every year to reaffirm the importance of creating healthy spaces. As we prepare to celebrate this day, here are a few things to keep in mind.
Every year, World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed on 28 April. This year, the special day is on Sunday.
On April 29, 1971, the International Labor Organization adopted the Occupational Safety and Health Convention. In 2003, the International Labor Organization declared that 28 April would be observed as World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Since then that day started being celebrated as an important day.
The theme of this year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work is Climate Change and Safety and Health at Work. “As climate change accelerates, workers around the world are increasingly finding themselves vulnerable to exposure to extreme heat, ultraviolet radiation, extreme weather events, air pollution, vector-borne diseases and agricultural chemicals,” the International Labor Organization wrote in its letter. Find yourself in danger of being exposed to dangers.” official website.
