IGI Airport: In the greed of a few rupees and free fun in the flight, this brother invited a big trouble for himself. Actually, this brother was asked to bring a thing from inside the aircraft by luring him with a few thousand rupees and a flight trip. This brother also lifted his collar and agreed saying ‘that’s it’. But what did this brother know, the ‘big guest’ has already come to know about his intentions.
As soon as this brother came out of the aircraft after finishing his flight work, the big guest caught him with the special luggage. Actually, this whole incident is of Terminal-2 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. The Customs Preventive Team posted at IGI Airport had received secret intelligence that some people are trying to smuggle out a large amount of gold brought through smuggling through the domestic route.
According to a senior customs official, after developing the intelligence, it was found that this gold was brought from Abu Dhabi in Indigo Airlines aircraft VT-IZK. The smugglers have hidden the gold inside the aircraft. The smugglers are waiting for this aircraft to fly in the domestic sector and they will take out the gold from this aircraft after seeing the opportunity. After this intel, tracking of this Indigo aircraft was started.

The Customs Preventive Team received information on 19 May 2024 that this Indigo aircraft was flying from Ahmedabad Airport and arriving at Terminal 2 of IGI Airport at 08:40 am. Based on this information, the Customs Preventive Team started laying its trap in Terminal 2. At the same time, after the flight landed, profiling of each person coming out of this aircraft was started.
Meanwhile, the eyes of Custom Preventive got stuck on a person who came out very cautiously. He was trying to appear normal, but there was a strange tension on his face. This person was in a hurry to get out of the terminal as soon as possible. Before this person could get out of the terminal, the team of Custom Preventive caught him.

Customs recovered so much gold from this person that…
According to the Joint Commissioner of Customs, the man who arrived at Terminal 2 of IGI Airport by Indigo Airlines flight 6E-2736 was taken into custody and brought to the Customs Preventive Office at Terminal 3. During the search, five grey coloured pouches were recovered from his possession, which were filled with gold converted into chemical paste. The weight of the gold recovered from his possession was found to be around 1156 grams.
He told that the value of the gold recovered from his possession is estimated to be around ₹73,91,152/- in the Indian market. During interrogation, this person admitted that he had brought this gold from Abu Dhabi and hidden it in this Indigo Airlines plane. He was given the responsibility of taking out this gold from the aircraft. On the basis of this person’s confession, he has been arrested under section 104 of the Customs Act.
