New Delhi. Those driving cars and bikes will now have to be very cautious. A small mistake can cost you Rs 10,000. Delhi Traffic Police has made complete preparations for this. Now it is not necessary for you to get caught by the police to get fined. If you have gone to fill oil at a petrol pump, your challan can be issued there too without any interference from the traffic police. This challan can be deducted against your pollution control certificate.

Delhi government has said that as soon as the Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) expires, the drivers should renew it. Any mistake in this may result in immediate challan. If a driver’s PUCC has expired and he drives the vehicle without getting it checked, then e-challan can be sent through the camera.

Cameras will be installed at petrol pumps
Delhi Police plans to install cameras at all petrol pumps in the city. These cameras will be able to check PUCC validity by scanning the registration plates of vehicles. If the PUCC of a vehicle is invalid then the cameras will issue an e-challan to its owner. The company cooperating for this has made a plan to investigate PUCC in collaboration with the integrated system and official portal of Delhi Police.

How will the system work
As soon as the drivers go to the petrol pump to fill oil, the cameras installed there will scan the registration plate of the vehicle and check the PUCC, the information of which will already be filled in the traffic police system. If PUCC is invalid then its details will be sent to echallan.parivahan.gov.in. After this, the employee present at the petrol pump will be asked to get a pollution certificate made. Besides, this information will also be given on the display present on the pump. If the vehicle owner does not renew even after being informed about this, then a penalty will be imposed.

Will start with 500 petrol pumps
The government will soon start installing such cameras at 500 petrol pumps in Delhi and tenders will be issued for this. An official related to the case said that till now such cameras have been installed at 100 petrol pumps. Its number will be increased 5 times.
