New Delhi. Motilal Oswal Private Wealth (MOPW) believes that Indian markets may remain volatile in the first half of 2025. This is due to a mix of global and domestic events, including the new Trump administration policies in the US, the impact of China’s trade tariffs and India’s upcoming federal budget. Investors are being advised to adopt a ‘hybrid approach’ during this period, with a balanced allocation across equities, fixed income, gold and real estate.
MOPW suggests increasing equity allocation over the medium term, especially through hybrid equity-oriented funds and pure equity strategies. Also, it is advised to invest 40%-50% in fixed income in performing credit and infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs). While gold remains a strong investment option due to global trends and the devaluation of the Indian Rupee (INR), real estate, especially commercial properties, also looks attractive.

According to MOPW, India’s macroeconomic stability and foreign exchange reserves are in a strong position, reflecting the country’s growth potential. However, there will be a possibility of instability in the coming months due to US and other global events. MOPW has urged investors to keep a close eye on earnings season and the direction of GDP growth, and expects large cap stocks to outperform this year.
