Weddings in 2024 are more than just ceremonies – they are an intense experience full of creativity, themes and unforgettable moments. We caught up with celebrity wedding anchor Chirag Dawar who has traveled across India and hosted some of the most vibrant and trendsetting ceremonies. In this conversation, Chirag gives us a glimpse of the latest wedding trends, from themed extravaganzas to electrifying DJ baaraats, while also sharing how he keeps the party alive.
The talk of the town: Themed weddings that will turn heads in 2024
“Weddings have transformed into experiences that reflect the personalities of the couple,” begins Chirag. “Today, couples are choosing themes that are bold and unique, stretching the imagination beyond the traditional setup.” They’ve hosted everything from vintage circus weddings to bohemian soirees. “One of the weirdest trends I’ve seen is pajama-themed cocktail parties along with lavish carnival receptions,” he shared.
For Chirag, his role is more than just hosting – it’s about immersing the guests in the atmosphere of the event. “As an MC, I work to maintain that energy, whether it’s engaging guests in a whimsical carnival or a relaxed boho celebration. When everyone joins in on the theme, it turns the event into something magical.”
Destination Weddings: A Celebration in Paradise
With the popularity of destination weddings skyrocketing, Chirag has had the privilege of hosting them at stunning locations in India – from sun-drenched beaches in Goa to the royal palaces of Rajasthan. “Destination weddings have an added layer of excitement. People are already in holiday mood, so the energy is incredible,” he explains.
Challenge for him? Keeping things smooth. “Each location has its own rhythm, and my job is to make sure everything runs smoothly while letting the magic of the location shine through. It’s about making sure the couple and guests can enjoy every moment to the fullest.”
DJ Baraat: New twist in wedding fun
One of the most popular trends is the DJ procession, where a live DJ setup turns the traditional procession into a high-energy party. “DJ baraats are a game-changer,” smiles Chirag. “Imagine a groom’s wedding procession, but instead of a marching band, there is a DJ playing tunes, and everyone dancing to the venue. The energy is through the roof!”
But not only this, now, both the bride and groom have their own wedding processions. “It is no longer just about the grand entrance of the groom. You will see families from both sides celebrating with DJ-led processions, creating an inclusive and exciting atmosphere. When I bring my DJ setup – music, hosting and uninterrupted entertainment it is a complete Bollywood blast on the road,” says Chirag.
handling the unexpected with grace
Like any live event, weddings also bring with them surprises and last-minute changes. But it’s all part of the experience. “Weddings are improv—there’s always something unexpected. My team and I are always prepared for sudden schedule changes or surprises,” he explains. Their calm demeanor and ability to adapt ensures that couples and their families never feel stressed, allowing them to enjoy their big day without any hassle.
personalizing the experience
Every couple is different, and Chirag prides himself on personalizing his hosting style to suit each wedding environment. “I spend time getting to know the couple and their families. This way, when I’m hosting, I don’t feel like I’m an outsider—I’m part of the celebration. The couple should feel comfortable, especially when they are at the center of such a big event,” explains Chirag.
This personal touch makes a huge difference. “Weddings can be overwhelming, but my goal is to make sure the bride and groom are relaxed and having fun, knowing they are in good hands.”
Chirag Dawar’s infectious energy, creativity and ability to adapt to any situation makes him one of the most sought-after wedding anchors in India. Whether it’s hosting a carnival-themed grand ceremony, having a DJ lead the baraat, or guiding guests through a multi-day destination wedding, Chirag’s unique approach ensures that each wedding he organizes Have an unforgettable experience.
