Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker exercised his right to vote in the 2024 Haryana elections and encouraged citizens, especially the youth, to participate in the democratic process. Manu along with her father Ram Kishan Bhakar cast her vote at a polling booth in Charkhi Dadri on October 5.
Manu Bhaker told ANI, “As the youth of this country, it is our responsibility to vote for the most favorable candidate. Small steps lead to big goals. I voted for the first time.”
Her father, Ram Kishan Bhakar, expressed pride in Manu being a role model for young voters. He also stressed the importance of voting.
“Manu is the brand ambassador and youth icon for voting. He had to come out. We vote in every election. If we don’t vote then how will our village develop… I would request everyone to come out and Vote. It is better to come out today instead of cursing the government for the next five years…” Manu Bhaker’s father said.
Major political parties like BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are competing for power in Haryana. The BJP wants to regain power for the third consecutive time while the Congress aims to regain control, with issues like farmer protests and wrestler protests influencing voters.
Voting will be held in 90 constituencies, in which 1,031 candidates will contest. The elections will be held from 7 am to 6 pm, with more than 20,000 polling stations set up for voters. More than 2 crore voters, including 467 of the third gender, are eligible to vote.
Manu Bhaker biopic
Manu Bhaker was earlier asked about his possible biopic. He said that he is not ready for the Bollywood version of his life yet as there is still a lot more to come in his career. He mentioned at Conclave Mumbai 2024 that there would be many actors to choose from when considering a film about him.
