Volkswagen Security Update: Volkswagen has made a big announcement regarding the safety of its cars. The company will now offer its Tigun SUV and Virtus sedan with standard 6 airbags. The company has said that all variants of these two models will include 6 airbags as standard features. Earlier, both the models were equipped with only two front airbags in their base models. This announcement comes just a month after the news of giving a 6 airbag update to enhance the safety of Skoda Kushak and Slavia.
Apart from making 6 airbags standard for the Tigun and Virtus, Volkswagen has also revealed some interesting information about its sales in India. Both these models (developed under the India 2.0 plan) have crossed the 1 lakh unit sales mark in India. The Tigun contributed 60 per cent (over 1 lakh units) of the total sales of the India 2.0 lineup. Also, 40 per cent of the customers have opted for the top-spec and sportier GT variants of the Tigun and Virtus.
Features of Taigun and Virtus
Both the Tigun and Virtus come with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic AC, ventilated and powered front seats, ambient lighting and a single-pane sunroof.
Along with 6 airbags as standard, both the cars also come equipped with electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, rear parking camera and rear parking sensors. It is also important to note that both the Tigun and Virtus have received a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test.
They are competing with
Volkswagen Tiguan competes with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushak, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyder, MG Astor and Citroen C3 Aircross. On the other hand, Virtus competes with Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz.
