Date:

Vienna. After a gap of more than four decades, an Indian Prime Minister arrived in Vienna, the capital of Austria, on a historic visit on Tuesday. Soon after his arrival, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited to a private event by Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer. Nehammer posted a photo of himself and Modi on the microblogging platform and said: “Welcome to Vienna, Prime Minister @narendramodi! It is a pleasure and honour to welcome you to Austria. Austria and India are friends and partners.” Prime Minister Modi thanked the Austrian Chancellor “for the warm welcome”.

Austrian artists sang ‘Vande Mataram’ to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Vienna. In another post, PM Modi said that India-Austria friendship is strong and will become even stronger in the times to come. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Austria in more than 40 years, before this Indira Gandhi visited Austria in 1983. During Modi’s visit to Austria, both countries will consider ways to further deepen their relations and cooperate closely on various geopolitical challenges.
