Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday attacked the opposition in his address after distributing appointment letters to 647 forest guards and wildlife guards and 41 junior engineers selected for the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board at a function organised at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat Lok Bhavan.

“We should ask him about his actions while he was in power. Why was the recruitment process not transparent? Why did the judiciary have to intervene repeatedly to stop the recruitment process?”, the CM said, adding that there were 1.55 lakh police posts vacant when his administration took charge, which were promptly filled within the stipulated time frame. Additionally, 1.64 lakh teachers were recruited at various education levels. He said six and a half lakh youths got jobs under his government.

Criticising the previous governments, he said, “Governments before 2017 had no policy for recruitment and identities were created through bribery while appointments were made through the back door. Lists of candidates were released by individual families. If a person from such a gang gets into trouble, its leader will also be affected. When a problem arises, they often try to deflect the blame. Even a criminal may initially deny the crime, but when presented with evidence, they admit their mistake. The public is constantly rejecting them, which shows their disapproval of past deeds.”

Reflecting on the situation before 2017, CM Yogi said that out of the 688 persons appointed today, more than 124 are women. He criticized the recruitment processes before 2017, saying that fair recruitment was not possible, there was widespread doubt over the commissions and boards of that time. He said, “Their work and selection were under suspicion, and many are still under CBI investigation. Those persons did not work honestly.”

He told the selected candidates, “From the beginning of the recruitment process till the distribution of appointment letters, there has been no need for recommendations or bribes. You must have noticed that there is no scope for any unfair means to influence the examination, and the government expects you to maintain the same level of integrity in your work.”

The Chief Minister, while mentioning the implementation of the Prevention of Unfair Means in Public Examinations Act-2024, highlighted the efforts of the state government to ensure a transparent appointment process.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, Minister of State KP Malik, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Department Sudhir Kumar Sharma, MD of Forest Corporation Sunil Chaudhary were present in the program.
