RO/ARO Prelims 2023 Cancelled: A week after canceling the police recruitment exam, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced the cancellation of the Review Officer (RO)/Assistant Review Officer (ARO) (Preliminary) Examination, 2023, following a paper report. The CM directed that the exam be conducted again within six months, an official said. Yogi Adityanath’s decision came after a thorough review of the said exam, which was conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on February 11, 2024.
During the review meeting, complaints regarding some questions in the question paper that were widely circulated on social media were discussed. In response, the government issued a release urging the public to provide evidence related to any attempts to influence the exams.
After this, in view of the evidence provided to the government and the report provided by UPPSC, the Chief Minister ordered the cancellation of the examination. CM has directed that the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police should investigate this matter and identify the people involved in these criminal activities and ensure strict legal and punitive action against them.
STF will expedite its investigation to ensure prompt action against all those responsible for the alleged paper leak. CM said that the government will not spare under any circumstances those who try to play with the sanctity of the examination. Yogi said that the culprits of the youth will be given such punishment which will set an example.
The preliminary exam was conducted at 2,387 centers in 58 districts of the state. This was for 411 posts including 334 posts of Review Officer and 77 posts of Assistant Review Officer in the two sessions. A total of 10,69,725 candidates had applied for the recruitment.
On February 24 – the day the UP Police recruitment exam was canceled – the CM had decided to investigate complaints related to Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (Preliminary) Exam – 2023.
In view of the facts and complaints that have come to the notice of the government, it has been decided that in order to keep the examination clean and transparent, the complaints received in this regard should be examined at the government level.
