UK Visa: More money will be needed from January 2025 to make studying in Britain more expensive mint

If you are planning to visit United Kingdom student show Next year, be prepared to spend more money again. The maintenance amount to study at a London university is set to rise to £13,347 (11.17 per cent more than the current requirement of £12,006) from January 2025.

This is the minimum amount which visa applicant (or his/her sponsor) must show the tuition money has been deposited into his/her bank account for 28 days. This change has been implemented in view of rising cost of living In Britain.

Meanwhile, students planning to study outside London will now have to show £10,224 a year instead of £9,207, which represents an increase of 11.05 per cent from next year.

While this may increase the cost of pursuing education abroad, it will also help in effectively budgeting and availing scholarships. “Students should focus on aligning their educational goals with long-term career prospects to make the investment worthwhile,” says Manisha Zaveri, joint managing director of Career Mosaic. ‘

Meanwhile, it is important to note that the funds are required for maintenance expenses in the UK. Of course, apart from this money, students will also have to show enough money in their bank account to cover the tuition fees.

Let’s say someone called ‘A’ has applied to a college in London that charges a total of £20,000.

Suppose, ‘A’ has already paid £5,000 before applying for the visa. When applying for a visa, ‘A’ must show £13,347 plus £15,000 (£20,000 – £5,000) towards tuition. And if the college is based outside London, they will have to show £10,224 instead.

Meanwhile, in other news, the UK has replaced physical copies of residency cards known as Biometric Residency Permits (BRPs). eVisas Effective from December 31, 2024.
