The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced new dates for UGC-NET, which was cancelled due to alleged irregularities. UGC-NET will now be held afresh from August 21 to September 4.

CBI sources told NDTV that the role of coaching centres, where many candidates enroll after spending huge amounts to crack exams like NET, NEET and civil services entrance exam, is also under investigation.
According to reports, UGC-NET will be computer-based. The UGC NET June 2024 session exam was conducted in pen and paper or offline mode. Now this exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
The testing agency has announced that the joint CSIR-UGC NET, which was postponed, will be held on July 25-27. NTA also released the new date for NCET (National Common Entrance Test) 2024 exams. As per the notice released, the NCET exams will be held on July 10.
The All India AYUSH Postgraduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) 2024 will be held on July 6, 2024 as per the pre-scheduled schedule.
The NTA had conducted the NEET (UG) 2024 exam on May 5, 2024, at 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 foreign cities. Over 23 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. 67 candidates scored 720 out of 720 marks, leading to widespread protests across the country.

Amid the controversy over the NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday registered a criminal case to probe alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exams by the NTA. Special teams have been formed to investigate the matter.
