UGC-NET exam question paper sold on dark web for Rs 6 lakh, coaching centres under CBI scanner, reports Mint

In order to ensure the highest levels of transparency and sanctity of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India had decided to cancel the UGC-NET June 2024 exam on Wednesday, June 19, a day after it was conducted.

The CBI has registered a case against unknown persons for compromising the sanctity of the UGC-NET examination. The CBI said that based on a complaint lodged by the Secretary of the Education Department, the case has been registered under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC.

NDTV Sources said the origin of the leak is not yet clear. The CBI will work closely with the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts competitive exams, for further investigation.

Sources said NDTV The role of coaching centres is also under scrutiny, where many candidates enroll after spending huge amounts to crack exams like NET, NEET and Civil Services Entrance Exam.

The report said that CBI officials may visit some of these centres as part of their investigation.

Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the government will set up a high-level committee to examine the functioning of the NTA and recommend reforms.

“The government will form a high-level committee to look into reforms in the NTA. The committee will be expected to make recommendations to further improve the NTA, its structure, functioning, examination process, transparency and data security protocols. Zero-error testing is our commitment,” Pradhan said at a press conference.
