Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar show “arrogance” of the BJP and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action against him.
Thackeray accused the BJP of insulting the icons of Maharashtra, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr Ambedkar. He claimed that Amit Shah would not have criticized Dr. Ambedkar without the support of BJP and RSS.
The Sena (UBT) leader asked whether BJP’s allies – Telugu Desam Party, JD(U), Ramdas Athawale’s RPI and Shiv Sena – agreed with Shah’s comments on Ambedkar.

The opposition Congress on Tuesday alleged that Shah’s remarks during the debate on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha showed that BJP and RSS leaders have “a lot of hatred” towards Ambedkar and demanded an apology from him. Congress general secretary-communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh had shared a video snippet on Twitter from Shah’s speech in the Upper House.
