If the phone is lost, it seems impossible to get it back. But imagine that if two of someone’s phones are stolen simultaneously, the chances of getting them back are negligible. But meanwhile an interesting story has come to light. A content creator from Patna recently revealed how resetting his wife’s Xiaomi Civi 2 phone helped him get this phone and his iPhone 13 back. Content creator Mohammad Shahrukh told that when both his phones were stolen inside Delhi’s Jama Masjid, and this incident happened in 2023.
He told X, ‘My wife and I had gone to Jama Masjid for Iftar. Since it was the month of Ramzan, there was a lot of crowd there. We had three phones, which included iPhone 13, Xiaomi Civi 2, and Redmi K50 Ultra. ‘My side bag has two zipped pockets. In one pocket, I kept the iPhone and Civi 2, and in the other pocket, I kept the Redmi K50 Ultra.’

Shahrukh says, ‘While coming out of Jama Masjid Gate No. 1, I saw that the chain of my side bag was open and when I checked, both the phones had been stolen.’
It was told that asking for help from the guard did not help much. But then Shahrukh thought of trying to locate the iPhone using his third phone, but he couldn’t track the iCloud phone.
He thought that the thieves might have switched off the phones or the network connectivity was poor amid the crowd. But when he called his wife’s number, it started ringing.

The thief picked up the call!
He kept playing it while running around Jama Masjid to listen to the ringtone to catch the thief. Once someone picked up and said, ‘I’m just behind you…’. And then he disconnected the call.
Shahrukh tried again, but no one picked up. Then he remembered that he had made some settings in Xiaomi CIVI 2 and because of that the thieves could not turn off the phone and they also could not turn off data or put the phone in flight mode.
Shahrukh then explained that the Xiaomi CIVI 2 has a setting option called “Shutdown Confirmation” which requires a password from users before turning off the phone and putting it on flight mode. Shahrukh then managed to track the device using Xiaomi Cloud and found that the phone was still inside Jama Masjid.
Then he started playing sounds and alarms using the cloud service, in the hope that the thief would be delayed in the crowd and the phone would keep ringing. A person received his call and claimed that his phone was found near Gate No. 2.
Xiaomi’s phone was still ringing when Shahrukh saw the person who had both his phones. The content creator then said, ‘He told me that he found my phone somewhere on the ground. I took my phone and thanked him and did not ask him any more questions.
