Two BBA students died after they “accidentally” fell from the fourth floor of their paying guest accommodation in Rohini on Monday, a police officer said.
Police had earlier said that both had Jumped to death.
According to a police officer, Ishaan, a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, and Harsh, a resident of Palam Colony in Delhi, had a ‘friendly scuffle’ near the open window of their room and they fell on the ground.
He said, Ishaan was pursuing BBA from Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology (BPIT), while Harsh had studied at Delhi Technological University (DTU).
“A PCR call was received at 1:10 am at the KNK Marg police station informing that two boys had fallen from the roof of a building. The police team immediately visited the spot.
“On local investigation it was revealed that two persons, who were in a room on the fourth floor of the PG residence, had fallen from the window,” a senior police officer said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Amit Goel said in a statement that the forensic/departmental team visited the spot and the cause of the fall was found to be accidental.
A source said the two students were roommates and had moved into a paying guest (PG) accommodation two months ago. Some of their common friends had come to meet them on Sunday night.
The source said that Ishaan and Harsh were playing cards with their friends when a ‘friendly scuffle’ broke out between them.
“They were sitting on the bed which was close to the window. While playing cards, a friendly scuffle broke out between the two, during which they fell from the window,” the source said.
The police also investigated whether they were partying or whether any scuffle had taken place.
“Other witnesses were also interrogated and they said that the students indulged in a friendly scuffle due to which they fell from the window,” the officer said.
The officer said CCTV footage near the spot was scanned but nothing suspicious was found, adding the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Police said that investigation proceedings are underway.
According to BPIT Principal Payal Fawa, Ishaan was a first year BBA student in a private institute affiliated to IP University.
He said, “We received information about Ishaan’s death from the police this evening. We are currently looking at the records of the student and will be able to comment accordingly.”
