G-20 Summit 2023: Traffic restrictions in Delhi from September 7 to 10. See details

The Delhi government has imposed traffic restrictions in the national capital ahead of the G-20 summit to be held on September 9 and 10.

As per the notification issued, vehicles including goods vehicles, commercial vehicles, inter-state buses and local city buses will not be allowed to ply on Mathura Road (beyond Ashram Chowk), Bhairon Road, Purana Qila Road and inside Pragati Maidan Tunnel from midnight of September 7 to 11:59 pm on September 10.

However, goods vehicles carrying milk, vegetables, fruits, medical supplies and other essential goods will be allowed to enter Delhi with a valid ‘no entry permit’. Check the full list of restrictions here.

Weather: IMD issues orange alert for 4 states, see details

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in four states including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa on September 7. It has predicted heavy rains in these four states. Apart from this, the national capital Delhi is on yellow alert today.

The weather department has forecast rain in Gujarat on September 7 and in Maharashtra and Goa till September 9. The IMD said that heavy rainfall is “very likely” at isolated places over Chhattisgarh till September 13. You can check all the details of the forecast here.

Paris Paralympics 2024: Team India’s medal tally – A strong performance

As of September 6, India’s medal tally at the ongoing 2024 Paris Paralympic Games has risen to 27, reports ANI. This includes six gold medals, nine silver medals and 12 bronze medals – this is the most gold medals ever won by India at a Paralympic event, surpassing the five gold medals won at Tokyo 2020.

More than half of the medals were won by Team India’s para-athletes, who won 15 medals – three gold, six silver and six bronze medals.

This year India sent its largest ever Paralympic contingent to the event, comprising 84 athletes across 12 sports. Earlier, Tokyo 2020 was India’s most successful Paralympic Games, with the country winning 19 medals – five gold, eight silver and six bronze.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: 10-day festival begins today

Today, September 7 marks the beginning of the 10-day Hindu festival ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’, which celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is believed to be the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom and new beginnings. Also known as ‘Vinayak Chaturthi’, the festival involves devotional and celebratory activities.

On the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi 2024 celebrations, devotees welcome grand and colorful idols of Lord Ganesha into their homes. They offer prayers, observe fasts, perform rituals and participate in community celebrations. The festival often features music, dancing and grand decorations.
