Planning a Tom Cruise sequel?
The report quotes a studio insider as saying, “He’s talking [to Paramount] About Top Gun and Days of Thunder. This will be whatever comes together first in terms of a script. It depends on the idea and ultimately the script… I don’t think [Days of Thunder sequel] A terrible idea. You might have said that watching Top Gun again was a terrible idea. I will not discount this.”
More on Mission: Impossible?
Tom Cruise is all set to present the eighth installment of Mission: Impossible next year, directed by Christopher McQuarrie. The action film, which now has a budget of $400 million, has seen several delays during production. Interestingly, even though the makers are planning to end the franchise with this installment, Tom Cruise is not interested in doing so. He plans to make more films with this franchise and as he said last year, he wants to play Ethan Hunt even at the age of 80.
Part eight is a direct sequel to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Tom returns as protagonist Ethan Hunt in the 2023 film. The untitled film has faced several delays since filming began. Last year, production was delayed to July 2023 due to the Hollywood writers’ strike. Filming resumed in March this year. The film’s trailer will give clarity on the fate of more Mission: Impossible films in the future.
