The scorching heat often forces us to stay indoors, where the cool embrace of air conditioning awaits us, but this comfort also has a downside: dull and dry skin. You can maintain a glowing complexion throughout the season by making a few simple changes to the way you care for your skin.

In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Sakshi Singh, Beauty Expert at Orgetre, suggested, “Start by keeping yourself hydrated internally. To combat the dry effects caused by the cold indoors, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, take care of personal hygiene and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Also use oil-free, lightweight moisturizers to restore moisture without clogging pores. These products leave your skin moisturized and supple without feeling sticky or heavy. Include hydrating face masks in your weekly routine to revitalize and deeply nourish dry skin. Use a humidifier in your bedroom to combat the dry air inside, this will help you prevent your skin from getting dry and flaky while you sleep.”

“Before you go to bed each night, make it a habit to remove your makeup. By doing so, you allow your skin to breathe and prevent clogged pores, which can lead to dry skin and acne. Finally, make good sleep a top priority. Try to get seven to nine hours of sleep each night to help your body heal and regenerate and give you a more radiant, glowing complexion,” she said.

Sharing her expertise on this, Ritika Jaiswal, Founder and CEO, Nourish Mantra said, “As the heat of summer increases, it brings with it a variety of skin challenges, especially dryness. Although air conditioners provide relief from the heat, it can also dehydrate your skin, making it dull and dry, but don’t worry as you can keep your skin glowing in the summer with the right skincare routine.” She advised –

1. Hydration is important:

Start by hydrating internally. Water is the key to keeping your skin moisturized and supple all day long. To increase hydration, choose foods and beverages that are high in water content, such as oranges, cucumbers, and watermelon.

2. Gentle Cleansing:

To remove pollutants without stripping your skin of its natural oils, use a mild, moisturizing cleanser. Use ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides to lock in moisture while cleansing.

3. Exfoliate wisely:

Exfoliation is important for removing dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover, but over-exfoliating can lead to dry skin. Instead of irritating your skin, choose a mild exfoliator that contains natural ingredients like fruit enzymes or oats to remove dead skin cells.

4. Moisturise:

Apply a thick, nourishing moisturizer to lock moisture in. If you want to repair your skin’s natural barrier and restore moisture, squalane, jojoba oil, and shea butter are good ingredients.

5. Sun protection:

Don’t forget to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and reapply it every two hours, especially if you plan to go outside.

6. Hydrating Mask:

To give your skin an extra dose of moisture, try applying a hydrating mask once or twice a week. To soothe and moisturize your skin, use ingredients like hyaluronic acid, honey, and aloe vera.

Remember, consistency is key when it comes to skincare. Keep up your skincare routine and your skin will thank you with a glowing, radiant complexion all summer long.
