IGI Airport Police: Sudharani Pathuri, who reached Indira Gandhi International Airport by Air India flight coming from Hyderabad, lost consciousness when she noticed her hand bag in the security hold area of the airport. Jewelery worth about seven lakh rupees was missing from her handbag. Since she had to leave for USA from IGI Airport and there was very little time left in the flight, she talked to her family and left for USA.
The family members of Sudharani Pathuri lodged a zero FIR in this regard in Hyderabad, which was later transferred to the IGI Airport Police. IGI Airport Police had just started working on this case, when they received another complaint related to jewelery theft. In this complaint given by a person named Virendrajit Singh, it was told that jewelery worth about Rs 20 lakh was stolen from his hand bag during the Amritsar-Delhi-Frankfurt flight by Air India flight.

Special team formed to investigate the case
According to DCP Usha Ranganani of IGI Airport, after both these cases came to notice, investigation into the matter was started by registering separate FIRs. To investigate the case, a dedicated team was formed under the leadership of ACP VKPS Yadav, which included Inspector Raj Kumar, Inspector Sumit Kumar, Inspector Ajay Yadav, Sub Inspector Amit, Sub Inspector Umesh, Head Constable Vinod and Head Constable Birju. The investigation was started by examining CCTV footage.

He said that the police team thoroughly searched the CCTV footage of not only Delhi airport but also Hyderabad and Amritsar airports. The accused person was finally caught by the police
According to DCP Usha Ranganani, information about the person’s correct mobile number was obtained from the mobile phone through which he used to book flight tickets. After this, when the location of this person was traced through mobile CDR, it was found that he lives in Paharganj area of Delhi and keeps his mobile on for a very short time. After gathering concrete information about the accused, the police conducted a raid and arrested him from Ricky Deluxe Guest House in Paharganj.
The person who bought stolen jewelery was also arrested
During interrogation, this person was identified as Rajesh Kapoor. It told that he is the owner of Ricky Deluxe Guest House. He also has his own mobile shop and money exchange business. During the search, police recovered a large quantity of jewelery stolen from the aircraft from its possession. During interrogation, it also revealed a person named Sharad Jain. Sharad Jain is accused of buying stolen jewelery from accused Rajesh Kapoor. On the behest of Rajesh, the police has also arrested Sharad Jain from Karol Bagh area.

Major recovery made on the trail of the accused
DCP Usha Ranganani said that from the possession of both the accused, 4 gold rings, 2 pairs of gold earrings, three gold bracelets, 2 gold chains, 1 gold maang tikka, 6 gold nuggets (418 grams), 3 silver Bracelets, 6 silver chains, 1 silver coin, 660 small diamonds and some other gems have been recovered. During their interrogation, some 11 cases have been revealed so far, out of which four are from IGI Airport and one from Amritsar Airport.

DCP Usha Ranganani said that during the investigation of the airlines manifest, it was also revealed that this person used to travel by air under two names. Firstly, he used to travel by air in his name i.e. Rajesh Kapoor, whereas most of the time he used the name Rishi Kapoor for air travelling. Some identity cards issued in the name of Rishi Kapoor have also been recovered from his possession.
