New Delhi. There is bad news for car lovers. Hyundai will no longer sell the SUV launched in India just 5 years ago. The company has also removed its name from its official website. The South Korean company has decided not to sell its electric car Kona in India further. The company launched it in the year 2019, but did not get a good response from the customers and finally it has been decided to discontinue it in India.

When Hyundai launched this car, the ex-showroom price was Rs 25.30 lakh. Due to lack of response from customers, the company also reduced the price by about Rs 2 lakh and the current price became Rs 23.84 lakh. Despite this, due to lack of sales, it has now been decided not to continue this car further. This car used to compete with Tata Nexon, MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV 400 EV in the market. After discontinuing it, now Hyundai has only IONIQ 5 as the only electric car left.

Why did you have to shut down
According to market analysts, the company has not made any update or change in this car in the last 5 years and this is the biggest reason for its discontinuation. The second big reason is believed to be Creta Electric. Hyundai is soon going to launch the EV version of its most successful SUV Creta. It is believed that it will be delivered to the showrooms by January 2025 and with the intention of making a place in the market for this car, the company has sidelined Kona.

The car wasn’t bad
Kona may have failed to attract customers, but this car was not bad. Talking about the specialty, it has a powerful engine that gives 135 horsepower and 395 Nm torque. Kona comes with a lithium ion battery with a capacity of 39.2 kilowatt hours. The company even claims that this car can reach a speed of 100 in just 9.7 seconds. It has 3 driving modes – Eco, Comfort and Sport.

80% charge in one hour
The most special thing about this car is fast charging. You will be surprised to know that this car gets 80 percent charged in just 57 minutes. Whereas, the regular charger takes more than 6 hours to get fully charged. Once charged, Kona can travel 452 km. Inside the car, there is a 7-inch dashboard screen and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, sunroof, climate control. The upcoming Creta EV will travel 500 km once charged.
