International Living, a platform for planning your retirement abroad, has recently announced its 2024 annual Global Retirement Index, which includes the best destinations for slowing down after reaching retirement age. Taking into account factors such as cost of living, accommodation, visas and others, Costa Rica earned the No. 1 spot, behind Portugal, Mexico, Panama and Spain.
“That Pura Vida vibe makes Costa Rica the perfect home away from home. Maybe it’s the pristine tropical beaches, the eternal spring-like weather in the Central Valley, the fact that it (Nicoya to be precise) is home to one of the world’s Blue Zones, the volcanic energy flowing from its ground, its rich biota. The diverse flora and fauna, the stunning turquoise waterfalls, or why Costa Rica is ranked as one of the happiest countries,” the International Living website describes.
