This country also called TikTok a big threat to security, it may be banned soon

Date:

taipei. Taiwan’s Digital Affairs Minister Audrey Tang has declared the Chinese company-owned social media platform TikTok a major national security threat. Tang emphasized that TikTok’s association with foreign adversaries is consistent with the US view, which views TikTok as a potential national security threat. At a recent legislative hearing, Tang said that Taiwan has categorized TikTok as a dangerous platform. He said any product susceptible to direct or indirect control by foreign adversaries poses a threat to national information and communications security by Taiwan’s standards.

This step in Taiwan regarding TikTok is similar to a similar step in America. The US House of Representatives has recently passed a bill targeting TikTok’s parent company ByteDance. In which he has been given a deadline to sell his American assets or face a nationwide ban. The law reflects Taiwan’s concerns about foreign influence on the digital platform TikTok.

Emphasis on security of digital infrastructure
Taiwan’s Minister Tang revealed that Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs has proposed amendments to the Cybersecurity Management Act, reiterating the concerns expressed in the US House bill regarding indirect foreign influence. This amendment reflects Taiwan’s commitment to protecting its digital infrastructure from outside interference.

Why is Taiwan so different and special in the world?

After India, America, this country called TikTok a big threat to security, it may be banned soon

TikTok banned in Taiwan’s government premises
The use of TikTok is already banned in Taiwan’s government agencies and their premises. However, Tang hinted at the possibility of extending the ban to schools, non-government agencies and public places pending a Cabinet decision. He stressed that such a decision would require a comprehensive assessment considering legal procedures and practical feasibility. Additionally, the digital ministry revealed its vigilance regarding the progress of the TikTok bill in the US Congress, indicating keen interest in international developments shaping digital security policies.
