New Delhi. Internet usage is increasing not only in India but all over the world. Especially the consumption of mobile internet has increased a lot. However, internet speed on mobile is different in every country. Speedtest Global Index has released its report on which country’s people enjoyed the fastest internet speed during the year 2024. It has been said in the report that mobile internet has developed rapidly and more than half of the world’s population is connected to smartphones.

1. United Arab Emirates: 442 (Mbps)
2. Qatar: 358 (Mbps)
3. Kuwait: 264 (Mbps)
4. Bulgaria :172 (Mbps)
5. Denmark: 162 (Mbps)
6. South Korea: 148 (Mbps)
7. Netherlands: 147 (Mbps)
8. Norway: 145.74 (Mbps)
9. China: 139.58 (Mbps)
10. Luxembourg: 134.14 (Mbps)
By looking at this list, it can be estimated how much variation there is in internet speed across the world. While some countries cannot even install digital infrastructure, there are some countries which have internet facilities that are faster than the average internet speed in the entire world.
India’s performance in mobile internet
India is the world’s second largest online market after China, with more than 900 million internet users. According to statistics, internet penetration in the country is more than 50% than the global average. Yet according to the Speedtest Global Index, India will rank 25th worldwide in terms of mobile internet speed by November 2024. The country’s average download speed is 100.78 Mbps, upload speed is 9.08 Mbps and latency is 30 ms. Although Indian internet speeds have improved some time ago, they are still far behind many countries.
