The effect of heat is already visible in Bihar. There is almost no water in 24 rivers there and 12 rivers have completely dried up. But this is not a new matter. Earlier, due to global warming the Slims river had dried up. The Aral Sea also became a victim of a similar tragedy. You will be surprised to know, but let us tell you that the Aral Sea was once the fourth largest sea in the world, which was present between Kazakhstan and Northern Uzbekistan. But this sea has dried up to almost 90 percent. Once it was spread over an area of 68,000 km. Many ships got stuck in it and could not even find their way forward. In 2017, NASA had also confirmed the drying up and shrinking of this ocean.

The Aral Sea was called the Sea of Islands, in which 1534 islands used to exist. But in the last 50 years, more than 90 percent of it has dried up. Its drying up is considered one of the world’s biggest environmental tragedies. NASA has also confirmed the drying up of this sea. According to experts, the process of drying up of this ocean started from 1960. By 1997, the Aral Sea was divided into four lakes, which were named North Aral Sea, East Basin, West Basin and the largest part was named Southern Aral Sea. After this, by 2009, the south-eastern part of the Aral Sea completely dried up and the south-western part was transformed into a thin strip.

The fishing industry suffered the most due to the drying up of the fourth largest sea, which was completely ruined. On one hand this increased unemployment and on the other hand it also resulted in economic losses. Not only this, due to the drying of this ocean, pollution also increased and people also had to face health related problems. According to reports, its drying up started due to a project of the Soviet Union, when the flow of rivers was diverted for an irrigation project in 1960. However, after this, to protect the sea from drying up, Kazakhstan started building a dam, which was completed in 2005. After this, in 2008 the water level in the ocean had increased by 12 meters as compared to 2003. However, despite all such efforts, Sagar’s condition could not be improved.
