New Delhi. It is often seen that scammers call mobile users and tell them to switch off their mobile numbers. Many users get scared or unknowingly follow the instructions of the scammers. After this, the scammers commit fraud with the users. Now the government is issuing warnings to people about such calls.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a warning to mobile phone users about fraudulent calls. Allegedly scammers are calling users and threatening them to shut down their mobile numbers. TRAI has clarified that it is not responsible for blocking or disconnecting any mobile number of telecom customers.

TRAI is sending warning messages to users about this scam. It says, “Disconnect any calls from Department of Telecommunications/TRAI threatening to disconnect your mobile. We are not making any such calls. Official communication, if any, will be from the official website/app/authorized store of your mobile operator. Please report any such call details to www.sanchaarsathi.gov.in.

Report through Sanchar Saathi Portal
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has advised people to report such fraudulent calls through its ‘Chakshu – Report Suspected Fraud Communications’ feature on the Sanchar Sathi portal (www.sancharsathi.gov.in).

Advice to verify registered mobile connections
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has urged people to verify the mobile connections registered in their name using the Know Your Mobile Connections facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal (www.sancharsaath.gov.in) and report any connection that does not belong.
