The Bombay High Court on Friday rejected actress Kangana Ranaut’s plea seeking stay on the lawsuit arising out of a defamation complaint filed against her by lyricist Javed Akhtar. According to a report in Livelaw.in, Bombay HC rejected the writ petition filed by Kangana in the defamation case filed by Javed in 2020. Kangana had also sought to link the case with the cross-complaint she later filed against him. According to the report, Justice Prakash Naik passed the order and said that the proceedings cannot be stopped or clubbed because Kangana Ranaut never argued that the cases were cross-cases, and despite this, Javed Akhtar’s complaint was filed first. Went. He said, “The relief sought in the petition cannot be granted at this stage. Earlier it was never argued on behalf of the petitioner (Kangana) that both the cases are cross cases.”

In 2020, Javed had filed a complaint against Kangana Ranaut after in an interview she accused him of calling her to her house and threatening her amid her ugly fight with Hrithik Roshan over their alleged affair.
Kangana then filed a counter-complaint against Javed for alleged “extortion and criminal intimidation”. She said in her complaint that after her public spat with Krrish 3 co-star Hrithik, the lyricist called her and her sister Rangoli to his house “with ill intentions and ulterior motives and then criminally intimidated and threatened them”. .
