The average temperature in Oymyakon town of Russia during winter season is around -50 degrees Celsius. However, despite such severe cold, about 500 people live in this city. During the winter season, snow accumulates on the eyelids. Here people keep their vehicles running 24 hours. Because once it stops, their engine will not start. Many times tears come when they go out here and they even freeze due to cold.

People here eat only meat

People keep ice cream and meat and fish in the open which remain fresh for months.

There is also a children’s school in this city. The average temperature of this place remains around -50 degrees Celsius. Despite such low temperatures, this school runs until the temperature reaches -52 degrees Celsius. It is so cold here that even exercising is prohibited in winter. Because sweating in such cold can even lead to death.

There is light for only 3 hours a day
During the winter season, there is barely three hours of light a day here. The rest of the time there is darkness. However, during the summer season, there is daylight for 21 hours and night for only three hours. This town situated near the Yakutsa region of Siberia is always a subject of research for people all over the world. People wonder how people would live in such cold, what they would eat, what they would think. Different types of thoughts keep coming in the minds of people regarding this place. In the year 2015, a team of some photographers from New Zealand reached here. He did not come out of the hotels for a long time due to cold.

Temperature remains -10 degrees in summer
The most interesting thing is that due to cold, everything from pen ink to drinking water in glasses freezes here. Till date mobile phone service has not been started here. Which is the minimum temperature measured at this place. The temperature in Oymyakon remains -10 degrees even in summer.

Oymyakon’s cultural groups go to Yakutsk and earn money.
