Important changes for engineering education in Telangana are imminent. Traditionally, engineering education has been seen as a four -year instruction. However, this perspective is ready to change dramatically. Chief Minister Revantha Reddy has consistently emphasized the importance of learning courses to students, but has also received job-specific skills during their education. Their vision is now being implemented.

CM Revantha Reddy, who oversees the Education Department, has repeatedly insisted in review meetings that students should be ready to secure jobs immediately after graduation. Following these instructions, the Education Department officials have been working diligently for the last three months.

After comprehensive discussion, meetings and analysis of the current situation, he has prepared a new fee policy aimed at increasing the quality of engineering education. This new policy will overhall how the fee is set for colleges. The government will set a fee for private engineering and commercial colleges every three years. Although the fee hike for this year was originally determined, it has been postponed for next year to allow the introduction of the new policy.

A high-level committee was formed under the chairmanship of Acharya Balakishta Reddy, President of Telangana Council of Higher Education and a comprehensive report was presented. Based on this report, Education Secretary Yogitaran officially issued new guidelines on Thursday. Previously, the fee was determined only on the basis of operational expenditure and audit report provided by colleges. Now, considering the six major criteria, the fee will be finalized, ensuring that the fee is examined and adjusted by the colleges when necessary by the Regulatory Commission (FRC). This will increase control over college management and provide fairness to students and parents.

The primary objective of this new policy is to increase the quality of engineering education. The focus of FRC will expand the eligibility and facilities of the employees to the standards of education provided to the students. Factors such as student attendance, educational performance, campus placements and post-graduation job opportunities will be important. Colleges will now need to display that students progress in their careers after graduation.

Additionally, the base-based online payment system for technology-based improvement and fee collection will be compulsory for accurate student attendance records, increase transparency and reduce corruption.

The government is giving priority to the research sector, considering factors such as publication of articles in national and international magazines, new discoveries, patents and support for startups in the duty assessment process. The national and international ranking of colleges will also be an important criteria. FRC will ensure that the college will implement technical education schemes set by the state government; Non-transport will result in punishment for colleges.

Under the new guidelines, 160 engineering colleges across the state should present their wide details in FRC between August 25 and September 3. The FRC has already informed all the colleges. On Thursday, a major meeting held at the FRC office, FRC President Justice Gopal Reddy, Education Secretary Yogitaran, Technical Education Commissioner Sridevasena, Higher Education Council President Acharya Balkishta Reddy and other senior officials attended, the decision was finalized.

The newly established fee will be effective from the upcoming academic year and will last for three years. The purpose of these changes is to ensure quality education for students and promote transparency in college operations.
