Emotional Ranya Rao talks about mental trauma in court
Ranya was sent to custody of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) by 10 March. According to the Indian Express report, on Friday, when he was produced in court, Ranya had large black circles around his eyes, of which photos came out online. She broke down while talking to her lawyers in the court.
Ranya told his lawyers through tears, “I keep wondering why I reached it.” My brain goes back to the airport during the day. I can’t sleep … I am mentally traumatized.
Known for her roles in Kannada films like Ranya, Manikya and Patki, Ranya was detained earlier this week by Revenue Intelligence Directorate (DRI) after returning from Dubai in the case of an alleged gold smuggling by Revenue Intelligence Directorate (DRI).
Officials allege that Ranya was carrying 14.8 kg of gold, which he intended to smuggle in the country.
On 4 March, Ranya Rao was produced before a special court for financial crimes and was sent to judicial custody by 18 March. Before transferring to custody, he had given a medical examination at Boving Hospital in Bangalore.
During his interrogation, Rao claimed that his visit to Dubai was for commercial purposes. However, officials suspect that their journey was associated with illegal gold imports.
What happened to Ranya Rao’s eyes?
Meanwhile, soon after the Kannada actress was arrested at the Bangalore International Airport, her image began with swollen eyes and injuries on social media, which caused speculation that the actress was allegedly attacked during or later during arrests at the airport.
Karnataka State Commission for Woman, Chairman of Nagalakshmi Chaudhary, while talking to Annie, responded to the viral image and said that the commission cannot investigate until a formal complaint is filed.
“In fact, someone has to file a complaint with us. The Women’s Commission does not have the right to conduct an inquiry,” she said.
Condemning any work of violence against Ranya, Chaudhary said, “Whoever has attacked it has not done so. To ensure that anyone should not take the law into their own hands. We should allow an investigation, and the law should not take his own course. No one has the right to attack anyone, whether he is against a woman or someone else, I am against him, but I am against him.”
Chaudhary also said that if Ranya files a complaint, the Commission will work accordingly. “As long as she writes to the commissioner or sends me a letter, asks me to see the matter, we will write to the concerned authorities to help him, help him, do a proper investigation and submit a report. All this can be done. Since he has not complained or has not filed a complaint, I can not comment further,” he said.
Ranya is in custody of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) till 10 March.
