President of India Draupadi Murmu will present the National Teachers Awards 2024 to 82 selected awardees tomorrow on 5th September at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.
September 5 is celebrated as National Teachers’ Day in India. It is the birth anniversary of the country’s second President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great philosopher, teacher and scholar.

In a press release issued on the eve of Teachers’ Day, the Ministry of Education said that the awards celebrate the unique contribution of teachers in the country and honour those who, through their commitment and dedication, have “improved the quality of education” and “enriched the lives of their students.”

Each award carries a certificate of merit, a cash prize Rs.50,000 and a silver medal.
The Education Ministry said that the award winners will also get an opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Department of School Education and Literacy has selected 50 teachers for this year’s award. They are from 28 states, three union territories and six organizations. Of these, 34 are male and 16 are female teachers.
The Ministry said that two of the teachers selected for the award are disabled and one teacher is working with children with special needs (CWSN).
Further, the ministry said that the Department of Higher Education and the Ministry of Skill Development and Literacy have selected 16 teachers each for this prestigious award.

Apart from this, 16 teachers of Higher Education Department and 16 teachers of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will also be awarded.
