An Arabic language teacher was arrested in Mumbai after a 17-year-old girl revealed during a counseling session that she was allegedly molested a decade ago, a police officer said on Saturday.
An officer of Powai police station said that a case was registered on Thursday on the complaint of the school where the victim studies in class 12th.
“The girl said in the counseling session that the teacher used to come to her house to teach Arabic. If she did not complete her homework, the accused would touch her inappropriately. The girl said these incidents happened when she was 6-8 years old,” the officer said.
The official said the accused was arrested within four hours of the case being registered and charged under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
