Made-in-India received 50,000 orders in four hours in Japan, Gymni-Namak Namad, Japan.

India was the first country in the world, which received a five-day version of the very popular Jimmy SUV. Maruti Suzuki Jimmy was launched in the country after an endless wait in 2023, but while there was some initial discussion around it, sales have been lukewarm here. But in Japan, the five-door version of the vehicle has become a huge hit as export units started making way from India last month. It has been welcomed that there is a backlog of up to three years on the orders of the Suzuki Nomad named Suzuki Nomad.

Suzuki had to suspend booking for Gymnas Units exported from India to Japan after a huge reception.

The gymni has been nominated nomadic in Japan and while there is not much to separate the Indo-Spec model from the Japan-Spake version, except for the name change, its reaction has been very different in both countries.

Japan has a three-to-door version of Jimmy for a long time, but the additional feature of rear doors dedicated to nomads may have hit a raga with Japanese buyers. It has been reported that Suzuki got 50,000 orders in just four days after the reservation window was opened. This has inspired Suzuki to suspend the reservation process for now. “We apologize to customers considering the purchase of Jimmy Nomad due to suspension of orders. Thank you very much for your interest in our products, “Reads a post on Suzuki’s Japan website. “Jimmy nomad has been obtained very well, and we have received orders that are higher than our production capacity. As a result, we will temporarily suspend orders. ,

Jimmy – Three and five -Dadarwaje versions – are currently available in more than 100 countries and have been on global roads since half a century. The five-door version of the gymni is available only in India and now in Japan. Units for Japan are built at the Maruti Suzuki plant in Haryana (Gurugram), India. This is the second Suzuki SUV model – after Frox – Suzuki’s domestic base is to be exported from India. Experts mostly do Jimmy’s success in Japan for factors such as priority for SUVs with a small footprint, while still largely capable of large -scale to deal with road conditions. Pricing is also an important factor and the price of nomad is more than 26,51,000 yen (approx) 14.80 lakhs) later. It is in line with the pricing of such vehicles in the country. But then why did Indian buyers not love an SUV who likes elsewhere?

Why Maruti Suzuki Jimmy failed to fly in India?

There are many factors why the gymni fails to influence the vast majority of Indian buyers, which otherwise have an intensive love affair with the SUV.

  • Jimmy was launched at an base price in June 2023 12.74 Lakh (East-Shore) and 15.05 million (ex-showroom) for top-end alpha with dual tone hue. These value points were many more than which were expected and while new-uttered customers in the country are ready to pay a premium, Mahindra Thar Rear-wheel drive (RWD) version was compared to, the basis of which was the base value At that time 10 lakhs (former showrooms).
  • Comparison with Thar continues till date. Jimmy has a small footprint that makes it quite agile in crowded Indian city places and is quite practical on the hills. A favorable power-to-weet ratio also helps SUV. But this is not just the presence of the road that does the Thar command. For many image-conscious buyers in the country, Jimmy did not cut it.
  • Jimmy is not exciting to drive. Many have indicated a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine to be dull, especially when the Thar is placed against the 2.0-liter turbo petrol unit. In addition, there has never been a diesel unit, which means that a large part of lifestyle SUV buyers is placed in the Gulf.
  • A very niche product, Jimmy is definitely not an SUV for families due to its tight cabin. It is also an argument against Thar, but Mahindra hit back with Thar Rocks in 2024, a model that offers doors to rear-seat passengers, more space and a large cargo region.

Jimmy should perform better than whatever is in India so far. Its fans say that Indian viewers may not mature enough to understand how practical and capable the machine is really. And while Maruti Suzuki has offered several prices cut on Jimmy in the last months, not much to write a house about the sale rate.
