PCOS is a condition where the ovaries produce abnormal amounts of androgens which leads to the formation of cysts in the ovaries. High cortisol levels can trigger PCOS symptoms. The most common symptoms are menstrual irregularities, mood swings, acne formation, and obesity. “When our adrenal glands overproduce cortisol (and other stress hormones), they work overtime when we encounter stressful moments. This can trigger several of these symptoms at the same time.
