According to a senior CISF officer, the eyes of the intelligence team deployed in the departure hall of Terminal 3 stopped on a person. There was a strange nervousness on the face of this person, he was sharp about the deployment of security agencies and he was very cautious about a particular bag. Despite staying in the air-conditioned area for a long time, he was repeatedly wiping the sweat from his face. These actions of this person created doubt in the mind of the CISF intelligence team.

A suspect was seen in the bag during screening
According to CISF Assistant Inspector General Apoorva Pandey, based on this suspicion, this passenger was diverted to the random checking point for investigation. During the X-ray screening of this passenger’s baggage, some suspicious images were seen by the CISF team. After which, CISF allowed this passenger to check-in. During this time, the CISF team kept an eye on this passenger with the help of CCTV cameras.

A surprising thing came out from the secret layer
After the check-in and immigration formalities were completed, the CISF team once again took this passenger under its surveillance and brought him to the departure customs office. In the presence of this passenger and customs officials, the bag he was carrying was opened. A secret layer was found in it. Seeing what came out from inside this secret layer, the eyes of the CISF and customs team present there were wide open.

The joint team of CISF and Customs recovered 56,600 US dollars, 3810 pounds, 650 Euros and 5000 Thai Baht from the secret layer of this bag. Its value in Indian currency is estimated to be around 52 lakh rupees. After this recovery, the joint team of CISF and Customs took this passenger into custody and started questioning him.

The accused was handed over to customs
According to CISF Assistant Inspector General Apoorva Pandey, during interrogation, the passenger was identified as Mandeep Singh Kanwar. Mandeep was to leave for Bangkok from Delhi Airport by Thai Airways flight TG 332. During interrogation, Mandeep could not produce any documents related to the foreign currency recovered in front of the joint team of CISF and Customs. After which, the accused Mandeep Singh Kanwar has been handed over to the Customs officials.
