During a surprise inspection on July 18, an assistant teacher was found consuming tobacco in the classroom.

According to the report, during an inspection of a school in Bihar’s Jamui district, a teacher was found eating tobacco, commonly called khaini, in front of students. And his second crime was that he was wearing casual clothes on the same day. Hence, the education department was forced to take strict action against the man.
According to the report, the department has asked the teacher to clarify the situation, for which he has been given 24 hours to respond. District Program Officer of Education Department Manas Milind has sent a clarification letter on the matter. The matter is being reported of Kisanmantad Primary School located in Sono block of Jamui. Action is being said to be taken against the assistant teacher of the institution, Ranjit Kumar.
According to the letter written by Manas Milind, a surprise inspection of all the schools under Sono block was conducted on July 18. In the same sequence, Kisanmantad Primary School was also inspected, where Ranjit Kumar was caught chewing tobacco while teaching in front of children in normal clothes. The District Program Officer said that the teacher’s condition points towards dereliction of duty, negligence and arbitrariness. He has been given 24 hours to give an explanation to the Education Department.
According to a 2022 report, the state education department has issued strict instructions to control incidents like the one mentioned above. These instructions were issued after the department received several complaints in this matter. As per the instructions, if any teacher is caught consuming tobacco, he will be suspended immediately.
