Buxar. The festival of colors contains joy and tradition in itself. Every city and state has its own traditions. Bihar also has its own methods. In a village here, people wear new clothes on Holi and do not eat meat. His simple thinking behind this is that he cannot take someone else’s life for his own happiness.

The migrants from Bihar come to their villages only on two occasions. One is Chhath and the other is Holi. Eating delicious dishes during Holi has its own unique pleasure. Most of the people like to eat and drink meat and alcohol on this day. In Bihar, on the day of Holi, it is more relaxing to feed people than to eat it yourself. Today we are going to tell you about a village in Bihar, where eating or cooking non-veg during Holi is completely prohibited. The name of this village is Sowan and the district is Buxar.

strength in unity
Sowan village is at a short distance from Buxar district headquarters. The tradition of not eating non-veg on Holi has been going on here for many generations. People of this village prepare pua-pakwan on the day of Holi. Dahi Bada is specially made here. Local resident Abhishek said that it is also a symbol of keeping the village united. People from every community live here, but when it comes to village tradition, everyone follows it together. No person in the village goes and tells anyone that you should do this or not do that. All the people themselves consider this rule as their duty.

Don’t take someone else’s life for your happiness
Saurabh Kumar of the same village says- He is very happy with this tradition. This is the culture I have received at home since childhood. One should not harm anyone for one’s happiness. It is not at all appropriate to celebrate our festival by killing any animal. This tradition of the village also teaches us to respect every other living being.

new dress on holi
Local Golu Kumar told that there is a tradition of wearing new clothes on Holi. People wear new clothes and go to Bhuarnath Shiv Temple and offer Abir-Gulaal to Lord Shiva. The elders of the village remain sitting in that temple for a long time. People visiting the temple take blessings from the elders of the village. Whatever dish the women of the village prepare, they first offer it to Baba Bhuarnath and accept it as Prasad. 70 year old Arun Mahato told that his childhood also passed with this tradition. Recalling his days, he said that earlier the beauty of this village was a hundred times more than today. The excitement of Holi was visible in the village a month in advance. Faguas were sung at many places. Phaguwa is still sung but not with the same enthusiasm as before. There is definitely happiness that the youth are connected to their traditions.
