Lal Baba, the chief priest of Jharnakund Dham, told in a special conversation with Local 18 that apart from Koderma, people of many districts of Jharkhand and Bihar have unwavering faith in Jharnakund Dham. Despite the Dham being situated in a dense forest about 4 kilometers away from the city, people keep coming here continuously. At the beginning of the new year, a large number of people reach here with their families and enjoy picnic along with worship. By performing puja here on the occasion of New Year, the blessings of Baba Bholenath remain with the devotee throughout the year and the whole year passes auspiciously.
Shivalinga was found on the banks of Uttar Vahini river.
Lal Baba told that about 100 years ago people used to go to Jharnakund forest for grazing cattle. During this period, people also cut wood for firewood in the forests. Meanwhile, one day a shepherd was sharpening his ax on a stone on the banks of Uttar Vahini river in the forest. During this time, when the ax hit the stone, a drop of blood started coming out. After which this news spread in the entire area and people started worshiping the miraculous stone considering it to be Shivalinga in the form of Shiva. Since then worship continues here.
Many other gods and goddesses are also worshiped
Lal Baba told that Uttar Vahini river flows from the main gate of Jharna Kund Dham. Earlier the width of the river was greater. Shivlinga was found on the river bank years ago and is still installed there. Dakshineshwar idol in the form of Kali Mata, idols of Shiva family and all the deities of Ram Darbar have been installed in the Dham.
