To say that there’s at least one Madame Web in the Spider-Man universe is basically admitting that the web-slinger is in very little detail. As Dakota Johnson’s film rocks at the box office, at least it’s showering fans with some laugh-out-loud promotions, led by the campy film’s ‘alienated’ lead star, who returns to his Never fails to deliver witty, dry humor at its best. Abilities. While this comedy brings tears of sadness to the hearts of Spidey fans, there are a few other things breaking down in this pillar of madness.

Spider-Man Noir live-action adaptation

The Uncle reports that Nicolas Cage is in “serious talks” to reprise his role as the ’30s detective counterpart to the friendly neighbor wall-crawler. Official confirmation on the matter is awaited.

Cage previously voiced the character Grizzled in Into the Spider-Verse. The upcoming series is expected to be set in 1930s NYC. If this claim is confirmed in the future, it would be a great accomplishment to see the Academy Award winner claiming the web-slinger spot at the age of 60. It’s still unclear how this will ultimately come into being – if he’s to take over the character for good or jump into giving some heavy-handed speeches once again.

Silk Spider Society got bad news

The WGA’s attacks may have been on their way to achieving some promising results, but they ultimately resulted in some projects being resolved in somewhat inappropriate ways. Silk was supposed to be another live-action Spider Universe spin-off to be helmed by MGM+/Amazon Studios.

However, now that the scene has finally settled around those processions, Amazon has busted out the writers’ room for the anticipated Spider Society series. Initial reports from Deadline claimed that the Silk Writers Room sessions would take place in mid-to-late January, but sources are now saying otherwise.

The show was based on the Korean-American character Cindy Moon, who reportedly shares the same radioactive spider bite as Peter Parker. The Uncle report also states that the show’s writers’ room had already prepared the script for some episodes before the Writers Guild of America strike began.

Even though the WGA ultimately sent Amazon a dire reminder that “their failure to reopen several writing rooms following the strike is a violation of the Strike Termination Agreement (STA) between the WGA and AMPTP”, there was uncertainty regarding the show’s future. Words seem quite foggy at the moment.

On the other hand, another claim highlights the possibility of the Spider-Man spinoff being retooled for a “male-skewing audience”. The Walking Dead alum Angela Kang was originally developing this Amazon series, with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller joining the promising project. Although it could be safely assumed that the series was headed in the right direction, given the massive reputation of its showrunners, the aura has been disappointingly tarnished.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse wins big at the 51st Annie Awards

Pushing the sad news aside, let’s follow the upward trajectory of this rollercoaster. While Sony has churned out many disappointing Spider-Man experiments, this one took off with Miles Morales’ stunning animated tale.

The 2024 Annie Awards were held on February 17, and the event became the holy ground that awarded seven honors to a Sony Pictures Animation film. The superhero animated flick topped the show with its Best Feature win.

In addition to its big win, the Spider-Verse sequel also received the following awards:

  • Outstanding Achievement for Animated Effects in an Animated Production
  • Outstanding Achievement for Character Design in an Animated Feature Production
  • Outstanding Achievement for Directing in an Animated Feature Production
  • Outstanding Achievement for Editorial in an Animated Feature Production
  • Outstanding Achievement for Music in an Animated Feature Production
  • Outstanding Achievement for Production Design in an Animated Feature Production.

(P.S. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 won the award for character animation in a video game.)
